Vintage vultures will not want to miss the spring Sydney Rock 'n' Roll & Alternative Market on Sunday, September 13 at Manning Bar & Manning House, University of Sydney. Along with all the usual fabulous stalls and outstanding live entertainment, we proudly present our special showcase event, ‘Devoted to Vintage’!
Retro-fit your house, or yourself, with bygone buys of stunning vintage fashion and wares. Flaunt your most head-turning retro look for a chance to get spotted by our roaming models and enter the Vintage Best Dressed Competition, hosted by pin-up queen Pia Andersen from Vintage Allsorts. Retro rev-heads can get their rocks off at our classic and vintage vehicle display.
Two areas within the market will be devoted to Vintage, with plenty of rare items to be found, whilst regular stalls will display their usual have-to-have items – retro, rock’n’roll, alternative and unique fashion, jewellery, homewares, accessories, artwork, tikis, collectables, vinyl records, cult DVDs, the ever-popular retro hair and make-up stylists, plus more.
When you’re not admiring the mesmerising merch at Sydney’s most unique shopping event and coolest hangout, you can hit the dancefloor at the Manning Bar or kick back with retro tunes in the sunny Tiki Bar and food court. Beginners’ rockabilly dance lessons are on again this market (details below) plus there’s a café, bars, and giant outdoor games to thrill the kids.
This market’s live line-up features…
Papa Pilko & the Binrats – With their red-hot album Till The End Of The Road just unleashed, market favourites Cyrus Pilko and the boys are back with their voodoo soul, wild blues and slick, swingin' alt country rock‘n’ roll.
Hank’s Jalopy Demons – The musical reprobates from Melbourne are out to thrill with their expert renditions of pure, unadulterated rockabilly, late 50s garage, rock’n’roll and hillbilly.
Kieron McDonald Combo – These cats from down south are the real deal, delivering authentic wild rockabilly, hillbilly bop and rock’n’roll in the traditional 50s style.
Cruisin’ Deuces – Born out of a love of traditional honky-tonk, western swing and rockabilly, this band brings the sounds of Texas, Memphis and Nashville to Sydney for one hell of a hootenanny.
DJs – Limpin’ Jimmy & the Swingin’ Kitten, Rod Almighty, The Crimplenes and Andy Travers. MC – Limpin’ Jimmy.
